Ec Collective Agreement Personal Leave

The European collective agreement applies to federal employees of the Economics and Social Sciences (EC) group. We are negotiating the agreement with the Labour Council of Canada, which is covered by the Federal Public Sector Labour Relations Act. Maternity and paternity leave: maternity leave is an uninterrupted 16 weeks (an additional two weeks for each child after the second child in the case of multiple birth). This time can be taken as the mother wishes, provided that six weeks fall immediately after birth. Apart from these six weeks of compulsory post-party leave for the mother, if both parents work, part of the total leave granted can be taken by the father. Leave for family members: this may be requested for up to three years to care for each child. Workers are also entitled to one year`s leave, renewable by collective agreement to care for family members who are unable to support themselves and who are not working. The following notices provide the Staff Community with a policy interpretation, guidance and updates on collective agreements, classification, compensation and labour relations, as well as the guidelines of the Joint National Council (JNC). Refer to your collective agreement to confirm the leave provisions: paid leave dates are agreed upon between the employer and the worker or, if not the employer.

Unpaid leave: this is a free time without remuneration requested by the worker, which may be granted at the discretion of the employer, but which must always be included in a collective or individual agreement. The latest European collective agreement contains updated provisions concerning: all workers are entitled to paid leave as soon as they have worked at least one month during the reference period (from 1 June of the previous year to 31 May of the current year). Mandatory: perform a public service or perform union functions at the provincial or higher level. It is mandatory to grant this leave and workers have the right to return to their posts. You can apply for leave or leave for one of the following reasons: if a child is adopted or cared for, every parent has the right to suspend their contract for six weeks, which can be extended to an additional 12 weeks for both parents. The aforementioned law provides that this leave will be gradually extended until 2021 to ensure that the leave rights for the birth, adoption or custody of a child are the same for both parents. Paid leave: Workers are entitled to paid leave for the following reasons and deadlines: “With effect on 1 April 2018, the new clause 21.01, Personal Leave with Payment, comes into force. In principle, only actual schedules are taken into account when calculating the right to paid leave. Periods of absence from work are not counted.

However, certain periods are considered to be effective periods (annual leave from the previous year, maternity leave, training leave or sick leave) when the collective agreement establishes it. The eligibility of some of these types of leave may be contingent on the length of service in the company or the minimum contributions paid to the public social security system. Voluntary: it is necessary to have worked for the company for at least one year. Workers are not entitled to maintain their position, but have the right to be privileged in the event of a vacancy. This leave can last between four months and five years. Access our summary of all the new provisions of the collective agreement. The leave is planned at a favourable time for the employee and the employer. However, the employer does everything in its power to grant leave on the date the worker can request. Sick leave: this protects workers who are temporarily unable to work due to illness or accident and who require medical assistance.
